So today we started to work on our upcoming presentation. So far, we got the introduction part down but we still have to more to work on before we finish it. Hopefully, by tomorrow, we can finish it. I think that it would be interesting and I hope that the judges like our presentation.

A busy Wednesday

I just got in. My group has to work on the presentation for Friday, so I'm excited to be doing some edits. Amy, Shaq, and myself are going to Harlem RBI to do a story. It should be interesting. =). Well I have to start my memoir, so lata!

helllllllllooooooooo, i jus got in. today we are going to work on our friday presentation. it is gonna be real cool. our theme is going to be based off degrassi opening theme. i get to play jimmy. even though i get shot, its still a cool part. hopefully, we can win on friday because even though we've won these two weeks, we still are trailing behind the yellow team when it comes to points. they killing us out here :/ but i have faith in my team and we got this. lets gooooooo !

just got in a few minutes ago nobody was really here but nico and some members of the other teams. here with my cousin felicia shes going too be coming for a couple days its up too her cause iknow she be changing ha mind and stuff soooooo. . . . . . Soooooooooo today we are going to work on our presentation. I'm excited I hope we win again Friday. Tomorrow we have an interview with harlemRBI and I csn't wait. We're going to see a baseball game =] ! Though its not a mlb game, but its baseball and i like it! I hope tomorrow's interview goes well and I hope today we finish our presentation since tomorrow is going to be a busy day.

July 27th

Today we went to a hat store called Harlem Heaven Boutique for an interview. The store is full of different kinds of hats and they are all handmade by Evetta Petty. Ms.Petty is a nice person. She have a passion for hats for over 25 years. She also travels around the world to get fabrics for her hats. I love the store because it have all kinds of hats since I'm a hat fan myself. Then we did a P.O.S segment about the Gulf Coast oil spill.

Today was another productive day. We had an interview with another Hat Business and it was very interesting. The hats were beautiful, especially her headbands !!!! Yesterday we had an interview at a hat store in Harlem as well and it was good. The owner was funny and welcoming. After that we went to NY1 for a site tour and I met their reporter from Queens. Everything was going well until I found out that she met Derek Jeter...my world crashed. I was SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO HATINGGGGG!!!!!!

Well tomorrow we will be working on our presentation for friday, Im excited ! Thursday we have an interview with Harlem RBI and I cant wait ! I wish my parents were to enroll me in that program ! Well, im off this.

Captian Blue

Today was very productive . And I am so happy. These past few days I had been upset that only Quativea, Shaq, and Janelle were putting in effort for our team. But today everyone stepped up. Even Anthony did something, and he did it well. Hehe. And on the plus side EVERY team member was here today.

First Qua, Shaq, Amy, Vernel, adn Anthony went on a story. The footage brought back was more than expected. And at this very moment Mathew is editing it. That means we got a story and a final video done in ONE day ! Omg.

Then Anthony taught a video technical class to Eltee, while Shaq walked Sarah through the steps of being a journalist. It was so beautilful.

*Alsoo : Lilly is now our Official Administrative Assitant. YAY ! & shes good at it.

Then Sarah practiced her journalistic skills on us talking about the Oil spill while Eltee practiced taking Video. That was also great.

Sad Thing : We are still in second place with overall points. The Yellow team are BEAST ! But I see us being the underdogs . Defiantly by the end of this week we will be NO LOWER than like 100 point behind the yellow team . We are doing to much to not gain any high points.

I finished editing one video already. Tomorow I'm going to work on two & I did a story over the weekend.

Well now I have to get back to editing .

Goooooooooooooood Afternooooooooooon :)

I'm not so happy today, my brother/bestfriend left to DR today and won't be coming back until August 20, UGHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH !!

Today HarlemLIVE was opened late, like at 12:30 and it was pretty hot outside. I think we have an interview today we're just waiting for Dacia to inform us about it, once she comes. Friday was great! It was our second presentation and this time we had different judges...I have to say it was type scary. There were 4 judges I never seen and then Nyiesha. The topic was to convince funders to financially support HarlemLIVE. We did a video for it and 9 points on why it will benefit HarlemLIVE. We ALL spoke and I was nervous at first but it was ok. We Won, I was happy. So far we're "undefeated" lol but I hope that title sticks to us !

Friday Presentation

On Friday each team had to prove to the judges why they should invest in Harlem live. At the end of the presentation, after each team tried to persuade why they should get funding from Harlem live, The judges choose our team as the winners. I was glad I was able to speak on my own confidently and effectively. I enjoyed the hands on experience of being able to speak in front of a large crowd without shaking or sweating. Hopefully, I can continue to speak without getting extremely nervous or anything. I;m also happy that out team won fore the second time.

This is the first time that I present a speech with judges. I was very nervous and scared at first because of my fear (my stuttering) will disrupt it. But I calm down and I pretend it is just me alone talking. Then I found out that I didn't stutter as much as I expected. The judges like my speech and my mom was proud of me.

So today we're getting some work done. Tomorrow is our second presentation and I hope we win this one. We made a few calls for next week, so we have plenty of interviews ready. Also, last night, Dacia, Quativea, and I went to the Hennesy Priveledge Networking site and it was fun. We met a lot of people and received plenty of business cards. We defenitely promoted HarlemLive. Now, off to continue our presentation. :)

public speaking

Jenelle and I went to public speaking class today!!!!!!!!!!! We learn lots of things like how to approach people properly at a formal event or a sponsor. The group did a little role play on a make up event we made and we had to introduce to others and get to know them. :)

Public Speaking Class

Today a few of us went to a speaking class. We learned how to professionally introduce ourself to potential clients and other people that we want to receive information from. One way that we learned how to properly introduce ourselves was through a game. The game taught us how to inquire information that we needed from the people we want the information from through networking and by telling a little bit of ourselves through the process. First impressions are very important so you always have to make sure that you present yourself in a way where people would get a good impression of you. I thought this class was very helpful and I will certainly use the skills I inquired at the class in everyday live.

Bloomberg Event !!!

Today was a interesting day because we went to the bloomberg building & it was cool learning how everything works inside of the business. i learned alot of things about the world that i had no clue about !

Bloomberg Tour

Today some of us went into the Bloomberg News Building where we received a tour around the building. Although i know about Bloomberg's radio station, it was interesting to see behind the scene of the news and radio room. I was impressed with the building and the fresh flowers and fishes it had. The thing that impressed me the most, however, was when we saw how the news are delivered on a daily business globally. The fact that Bloomberg news runs on a 24 time period throughout the world fascinated me the most. Overall, it was a good experience.

Bloomberg Tour

Today, HarlemLive was invited for a tour in the Bloomberg Building. We were divided into two groups and was given a wonderful tour. The building was designed beautifully creating glass rooms so everyone can see what others are doing. I was very interested in that building. Some lady called Karen showed us what she does and it was interesting. I barely understood anything on the screen but as she explained it I began to get it and I have to say, that is what you call PROFESSIONAL work. Right now, we're at HarlemLive and we have no video cameras yet to begin our stories but we're beginning to interview and all of that stuff. Let's see how today goes !

Bloomberg tour

The whole crew went on a tour of the Bloomberg building at 59th and Lexington Ave. The tour was interesting and I learn new things about the place.

Today was a very HOT day. We had cut a cake for Vernel & Nico because their birthday was yesterday. We called a few places to make interviews for this week and some became succesful, others, well I guess we have to attack them for some answers. We won on Friday, and today their going to tell us Friday's presentation so we can get ready. Every day we're getting along a little bit too much, that I think it can slack us on our work...lol just kidding, but I do hope we win !

on friday it was my team, the blue team who won the first round ' it was really exciting too know we did a great job & we are the lead. shaq is the best team mate anyone can possibly have ! Also our team was very creative which i think it was the reason as to why my team won first place & also is in lead of everybody else =]

Today was not very productive but yet its very hard to do things when things don't go as planned . We were going to be on our street performer story but again : NO VIDEO CAMERA . & on top of that , one of our classes had got delayed from 2:15 to 3:30 . But on the bright side we established another group withing our group . BAD GIRLS =] . And we still have high spirits from our winnings Friday .

First Presentation

Friday was the first presentation that we had. Although I was a little nervous at first, it wasn't that bad. After preparing for the presentation for two days, our hard work paid off because our team won. One of the things that I got out of the first presentation was the criticism that the judges gave us. One of the criticism that our team got was that everyone in the team have to speak when we are presenting so that everyone can have the opportunity to work on their speaking skills. I plan to take that criticism and utilize it for the next presentation. Overall, it was an informative and useful experience.

Today was very tiring. We walked so much in the heat. We went to riverside and took many pictures. It was great to spend time with the team. Tomorrow is our first presentation and we're 50% ready. The other 50% is getting worked on. I think we're going to do well on it, I'm very positive about it. We haven't worked on a story yet but we're working on that as well. This summer is going to look very busy for the BGLC team/ Power Rangers , haha :) By the way, i'm the red one =]

My Day was really good. I went to a photography class and learn more stuff about a camera function than I already knew. To make sure I knew everything me and a few people went out to take pictures. Second Day : Dacia Thomas

Omg, my team is the best. Its amazing how we all clicked. And whats even more wonderful is that we have all clicked in a way thats beyond business. I am super excited to lead a team like this. We have amazing ideas . And we all are productive ( even the loose cannon ) . Throughout this summer challenge I think we will be the one seen with the highest energy. I cant wait until Monday. Vidoes are going to be produces like crazzzzieeee . This is going to be one memorable summer !

Day 2

Day 2 was extremely hectic. First we had to meetup in the research library on 42nd. there we learned about databases. after we were finished, we walked outside where we witnessed a downpour of rain. we ran to the rain and got in. when we got out the train it was still raining but we managed to get to HarlemLive. there we worked wit our group and finished the day. overall, good crazy day.

Learning About Using DataBases

Yesterday we had a class in the library that taught us how to use different databases for research. Although the class could of been more interactive, it was still interesting to learn about the different databases. Databases are more, specific ways to find different articles that would help with finding information about those specific topics. I thought the class was very helpful because it helps you get more reliable sources for whatever information you want to find out.

Day 1

Hello, i finally got my password together thanks to AMY aka MARSH MELLOW AMY ; if it wasn't for her i would of never been able to blog and we would not have gotten any points ; today was okay we went to the research library and learned how to use databases and where to go to get accurate information . . . . as far as the weather it was RAINING and sticky hot and muggy it wasn't the best weather but the class was very helpful and some what important . . . .

Team BlueGlue DAY 1 !

Day 1 is in the books and on to Day 2. I entered HarlemLive this morning knowing that we was going to be on different teams then what we had during the scavenger hunt. As soon as I walked in, I found out that I was on Team Blue and I met most of my team members. We went outside, thought of a billion different teams, and well got to know each other a lil bit more. At the end of it, we stuck wit the name BlueGlue & the Loose Cannon. yea, i know. crazy name ! After that, I went on to my journalism class. I learned a lot of new things. then , i reunited wit my team members and we discussed different things like what we gonna do throughout the challenge and jus laughing about our stupid jokes. we even have our own little thing where we clap a lot. lol. then, i went on to my video class. we learned how to deal with a camera and i gave my first POS -_-, i wasnt to excited. but at the end of the day, it was whatever. as i look back, i had a fun day 1 with my team. if we work hard, WE TAKING FIRST PLACE ! LIGHT !

DAY ONE.

Today we went through so many team names, it was crazy. First team blue, azul team, to backyardigans, to team lol, bluezinni, blues clues, juice crew, to BLUE GLUE AND LOOSE CANNON..omg what a day. So the loose cannon came from anthony being a clown and wanting to be isolated from the rest of the team. We all got a long actually, we tried to do a replay of Not Another Teen Movie and do the clapping scenes. It was funny when Mat actually fell for it. Well I hope tomorrow is better and I have a good feeling about this team.
